Creating from a Nucleus with Sheila Frampton-Cooper

5 Days Monday – Friday, July 28-August 1, 2025

Explore the mystery and excitement of creating a pieced abstract quilt with little or no plan. The focus of this workshop is to create a strong focal area in your piece, and begin there to develop a very organic and fluid composition. We will discuss basic design and composition, color and value, quilting, and most importantly trusting your instincts. Sheila will demonstrate construction techniques for sewing curved seams and discuss some of the challenges you may run into with spontaneous design and piecing. This is a Master Class, but confident beginners are absolutely welcome.

Skill level: Intermediate, but confident beginners welcome

All QBL workshops begin on Monday and end on Friday. Workshops are from 8:30-4pm daily. Students check in to their dorms and move into classrooms on the Sunday before the workshop begins. There is a welcome dinner with a lecture Sunday night.
