The Cayuga Museum and the Schweinfurth Art Center are seeking proposals from emerging artists for exhibitions that will be held in both the Cayuga Museum and Gallery Julius at the Schweinfurth. It is a unique opportunity for artists to present an exhibition in both a contemporary gallery space and an historic space at the same time.

WHEN AND WHERE: The exhibit will be on display at both the Cayuga Museum and the Schweinfurth Art Center, which are located next to each other. Special consideration will be given to artists whose proposal reflects on the juxtaposition of exhibiting in both locations simultaneously. Two proposals will be selected. Exhibition dates are: March 25 – May 28, 2023 and June 10 to August 20, 2023. Artists will be informed which date their exhibit is selected for. If there are any conflicts with either of these exhibit dates, please include that in your proposal.

Quilts=Art=Quilts 2022 will run Oct. 29, 2022, to Jan. 8, 2023

Quilts=Art=Quilts is an annual juried quilt exhibition that has been held since the Art Center’s opening in 1981. Each year the exhibit attracts competitive entries from some of the world’s leading quilt makers and fiber artists.

Member Exhibition

MEMBER SHOW: Not currently accepting applications
All Art Center member artists are invited to participate in the Member Show. It is open to painting, drawing, photography, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, and more. There is no entry fee for this exhibit and all submissions are accepted into the exhibition.

Curated Exhibitions

Each year the Schweinfurth Art Center curates solo or group shows based on a theme. Artists are selected from studio and gallery visits, referrals, artist websites, artist proposals on file and ongoing research. Occasionally the Art Center works with guest curators. Exhibits are planned two to three years in advance. Exhibitions are selected based on overall artistic integrity and how the subject, medium, or curatorial content fits in with annual exhibit and program plans each year. The Art Center generally does not consider exhibits based solely on membership in a club or an organization.
