Quilting by the Lake has a new home: Hobart and William Smith Colleges!
Thank you for being so patient with us while we searched for a new venue. We are excited to announce that we will be hosted this year at Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, NY. For those of you who don’t know, Hobart is also a lakeside campus!
We are very lucky that Hobart was able to fit us into their summer schedule. We usually plan with venues years in advance. Due to the last-minute nature of the situation, housing will be a bit scattered across campus in various cottages, houses, townhouses, and 1 dorm. The dorm will only be available for the first session. Because accommodations on campus are slim and Hobart is fitting us in, many rooms are on second floors. Those who let us know when they registered that they cannot walk up any stairs will be given accessible rooms. If your situation has changed since registration, let us know ASAP so that we can find a ground floor room for you.
Help will be available at check-in and check-out to get everyone moved into and out of their housing. Hobart is already working with us for 2025 and we are planning for more accessible accommodations for everyone in the future!
If you are a commuter and the difference in distance affects your ability to commute, please email Nikki Dragone at nikkid@schweinfurthartcenter.org to register for housing or to receive a refund. Housing is limited – especially if you need ground floor accommodation in the second session- so register for housing soon.
We are working on compiling all of the information you will need about including: how to navigate campus, where registration is located, classroom & other housing information, amenities, meals, and more! We will get all the information to you as soon as possible!

Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, NY
Welcome to Quilting by the Lake (QBL), a 2-week, internationally recognized quilting event taking place in Geneva, NY, in the heart of the Finger Lakes. Located at the north end of Seneca Lake, the campus is a wonderful place to provide world-class quilting workshops amid the beautiful scenery. Classes will be offered in design, techniques, and surface design to suit all quilting styles: traditional, art, or modern. Join us for five-day classes, lectures, trunk shows, mini-markets, and more from July 14 to 26. Sign up and be part of our special community, treasured for its creative environment and camaraderie.
Quilting by the Lake consists of two 1-week sessions running July 14 to 26. Sessions begin on Sundays and classes kick-off on Mondays. QBL offers five-day classes plus programs throughout the week.

Session II July 21-26: Joe Cunningham, Paula Kovarik, Denise Labadie, Joy O. Ude, and Rosalie Dace (online)
QBL in the Finger Lakes will include:
- Beautiful lake view from every building
- Afternoon and evening programs, including lectures, mini-mall, show & tell
- All meals included in housing plans: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Special events, including opening and closing dinners.
