About the Teacher

Marley Montague’s first memories growing up are almost all surrounded by some medium of art; knitting with her grandmother, making jewelry to sell, or even school murals. Marley started her secondary education at Buffalo State University in the Art Education Program. There she took a wide variety of classes from weaving, to jewelry making, to painting; but the class that really stole her heart was ceramics. After a few years at Buffalo State she chose to move to Syracuse and apprentice at Papavero Clay Studio in Skaneateles. There, Marley has continued to create ceramic pieces, in addition to teaching classes and events held at the studio; including: wheel throwing, hand building, and smaller pinch pot classes for both children and adults. For the past two years Marley has learned from and worked at Papavero under artist Jeremy Randall, allowing her work to grow as both an instructor as well as an artist. Marley continues to look forward to the new experiences that will help her continue to develop her work further.
