Auburn's Black Family Album
African American families and groups can get free portraits taken by Ellen M. Blalock, the Schweinfurth Art Center’s Artist in Residence, for Auburn’s Black Family Album, a Juneteenth project that is sponsored by the City of Auburn.
Participants will get an 8 x 10 print and a digital copy of the photo, as well as a copy printed on fabric that can be made into a quilt in a later workshop. A second print will be combined into a yearbook and donated to Seymour Library’s History Discovery Center.
Call 315-255-1553 to sign up. Appointments are available through the end of the summer, but book early to ensure your participation. The photo session, prints, and quilt workshop are all free.
This project is part of the City of Auburn's Juneteenth celebration and sponsored by the City of Auburn's Historic and Cultural Sites Commission, New York State Council on the Arts, and Creatives Rebuild New York.
