Winter Art Camp: Resist

Ages: 11-15
Cost: $135 members, $145 non-members
Be prepared to get messy and play in buckets of colors in this fun, week-long workshop exploring Tie Dye, Shibori, Batik, and other fun “Resist” dyeing adventures! You are encouraged to Play, Explore, and Create! Learn some basic Hand and Machine Sewing. We’ll create a table runner, wall hanging, pillow, journal cover, and a stacked abstract “Earth Sculpture” from your one of a kind fabrics! As a bonus on “Freestyle Thursday”, bring something white that you would like to dye!
Masks may be required in the classroom depending on community spread. Masks requirements may be subject to change. If you are not willing to wear a mask please do not register for our youth classes.
About the Teacher
Griot artist Vanessa Johnson, is a native of Syracuse, N.Y. who practices in the art of storytelling. A Griot is a traditional West African Storyteller who is responsible for accurately reciting historical events through song, speech, reenactment, screenwriting and musical composure which effect society or a specific community.
