Summer Art Camp: Make Your Own Book!
Monday August 7 – Friday August 11, 2023, 1:00pm-4:00pm
Ages: 11-15
Cost: Members $130, Non-Members $140
Books are a great way to collect ideas, pictures, stories, and mementos all in one place! Students will look at examples of different types of books and utilize prompts from Catkid Comic Club Series, Book Making for Kids, and Lynda Barry’s Making Comics and experience demonstrations on art techniques like sewing, stamping, collaging, printing, and illustrating. By the end of the camp each child will compile their various works into their own bound book.
Masks may be required in the classroom depending on community spread. Masks requirements may be subject to change. If you are not willing to wear a mask please do not register for our youth classes.
About the Teacher
Reina Apraez (She/They) is from Syracuse and an elementary art teacher in the Syracuse City School District. She is a recent graduate of the Low-Residency MFA program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Their own art practice is based in painting and poetry.
