Schweinfurth Art Center is pleased to join other Auburn institutions and businesses to offer free events 5 to 8 PM on the First Friday of most months.

May First Friday

Come to the Schweinfurth Art Center 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, for an unveiling of the completed exhibit Recycled Light: An Ode to Neon by Skaneateles artist Lorne Covington. The event is free and open to the public.

Covington is building a 3D sculpture out of 2D neon lights he got from neon shops going out of business due to the switch to LED signs, saving them from landfills. He has more than 400 signs and tubes from which to create.

Visitors can also tour the Schweinfurth's two other exhibits, Made in NY 2022 and Im-pressed Muses by Victoria Savka.

First Friday runs 5 to 8 p.m. May 6 at the Schweinfurth, 205 Genesee St., Auburn. Covington will be giving a talk at 6 p.m., but will be available for questions before and after his talk. Masks are recommended but not required.
