EMILY RICHARDSON 


Emily Richardson has a background in fashion design and theatrical costuming, and has been making art quilts since 1988. Represented by the Gross McCleaf Gallery, Philadelphia, Emily has exhibited her work throughout the United States and abroad, including in numerous solo exhibitions at Gross McCleaf Gallery, and the Jane Sauer Gallery, Santa Fe. In 2009 an extensive exhibition of her work was presented at the Visions Art Museum in San Diego. Known for its painterly and expressive qualities, her quilts are held in many corporate and private collections, including the Museum of Arts and Design inNew York City, The International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Nihon Vogue Company in Tokyo. In addition, her work has been published in numerous periodicals, catalogs, and books. Emily was the recipient of a 1995 grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the 1997 Leeway Award for Excellence in Fiberarts, and the 2004 Nihon Vogue Quilts Japan Award. She maintains a studio in her Philadelphia home.
